This is Dani Kitten at about four months old. She loved going into the front garden because she could hide behind the huge hosta leaves to amusing effect.
We kept her on a longer leash and monitored her carefully from the porch. It was never very long before she extricated herself from the giant green peduncles which were stalking her and came begging for Temptations; proof that the relative comfort of the porch and a savoury treat held more sway.
For your further enjoyment (we hope), below is an artified rendering of Dani around two or three weeks old. Here eyes are still blue, and her ears aren't yet standing up. I think it's funny to see her well-developed lynx tips drooping like that. Her shadow echoes it purrfectly on the wall.

And here's another bonus shot! These are Dani's two siblings and she is in the middle.
Most female Maine Coons don't even come close to Dani in size! I wonder if she had a secret hoard of testosterone. Good thing she is spayed, because if she had a crush on some male cat, she would crush HIM in the process.
Did you know Maine Coons keep growing for up to five years? I am just grateful that Dani has now past her sixth birthday. We haven't weighed her recently but she was 23 lbs. last year. And I know she's more massive now (and I don't mean overweight). She is fulfilling the promise of her kittenhood, even though I didn't necessarily want her to.
Dani and I wish you good days ahead, not too hot and not too wet. Dani is well aware that a happy medium is an illusive thing.

Dani was a beautiful baby, and she still is beautiful. My niece had one named Nixon. He went to the bridge last year at the age of 16 from a blood clot. XO
No such thing as a happy medium this summer! Too funny about crushing a boy kitty MOL!
Dani is so adorable and that wee trio was sure something special.
My angels Seney and Peepers were Maine Coons. Seney was anorexic and though very tall and long she never weighed more than 9 pounds. Dani is lovely and makes me wish for my angels back even more. Lynn
