I have introduced Sox previously on this blog, but he has made only rare appearances.  He may be a more regular feature now so I'll acquaint you with him once again.

Sox is an eleven-year old longhaired brown tabby with four white paws.  He is my son's cat who I have been catsitting for many months now.  My son travels regularly for work, and it didn't seem right to keep shuffling Sox back and forth between houses.

Indeed Sox has disappeared from our home twice; once in the depths of winter for over a month.  The fact that he survived was miraculous.  I think he was trying to find his way back to his own home.  This idea was strengthened when he disappeared a second time for about three weeks (thankfully in warm weather this time). When he was turned into the Humane Society finally, they told us he was found on the same street where my son lives (except no one was home to greet him).

To be fair Dani gave him quite a hard time when he first arrived, but things have settled down over many long months.  They now can be counted as friends; fast friends, even -- especially when they race around the house.

So for now, and potentially always, Sox calls our house 'Home'.  He doesn't disappear any more and goes out and comes back regularly.  His longest outings have been for about three hours and then he reappears at the back patio door hunkering (and hungering) for some grub.  After a nosh he wants back out again.

Sox is very sweet and funny.

And he LOVES a bit o' catnip!

"See ya around" says Sox.

This is Dani sitting in the front garden.  Weed-ridden though it is, it is still a place of wonder.

I wonder what she's looking at?

Ah -- it's the weigela bush -- how pretty!

"Bush shush!  I see a fairy."  says Dani.

Will wonders never cease!  At least it's not an elephant.

Dani was backing on the very edge of the front porch.  This left her in a position where her body was warmed by the sun and her head was shrouded in shade.

"Uh-oh, I furgot my sunglasses" she said before realizing that ...

... she didn't really need them.  "I has shade wifout warin' shades -- go figure."

Yes indeed, you are quite the shady character, Dani!
I wouldn't want to meet you in a dark alley at night.

Here is Dani, who is definitely NOT tongued-tied, attempting to speak with her tongue hangin' out.

"Ith verreh hawd too tawk wif yur tung owtta yur mouf.
Purrhapth thees two-lipth wil hep."

"Ore mebbeh nawt!"

Dani has a new dress which is purrfect for lilac season.

Here is Dani in her latest lilac frock with white bodice and black-with-white polka dot trim.  She has chosen a like-coloured fascinator with pretty purple roses for her head, and a pale floral amethyst necklace with dangling pendant for her throat.

Dani's purrse is an explosion of colour including various shades of purple flora.  This dramatic carryall has a gold metal handle, fastener and chain and can be used as either a shoulder bag or a pawbag.

This shot shows more detail on the back of the dress.  There's a black polka dot heart trimmed in purple and accented with a pale pink polka dot bow.

Dani loves lilacs in both flowers and fashion.  She is, however, more keenly interested in the butterfly fluttering aloft.

"I wud luvs ta feel wot it's like to has buttahflies in my stumack."  she says.

"So come down heer buttahflies an' GET IN MY BELLY!"

I like using special effects now and then.  The paint effect really seems to bring out the colours in Dani's coat.

"Mama says I'mma painted ladycat but I doan know wot she means."

"I jus' fawt I wuz bein' tickled!"

Dani's getting all gussied up to go shopping.  She's looking for something for Dada's Day.  Mind you it's not for a couple of weeks, but she likes to keep ahead of the game and get all the good stuff before it's gone.

"Mama, kin I has my allowance a liddle early, please.  Is very imPAWtant!"

Of course I complied.  How could I not?  Dani was being very thoughtful and planning well in advance for the event.

Her Daddy likes short-sleeved casual summer shirts and there sure are a variety of interesting ones out there these days.  Here are just a few she found on sale for Daddy's Day.

#1.  This one, in teal, has a print of old-fashioned sailing ships.

#2.  This one is white with little navy (the colour, not the military) sailboats.

And, at a different store where they like to remain anonymous:

#3.  Dark teal with an all-over abstract design.

#4.  Light blue background with pineapples and pink flamingos.
This guy seems to think it's hilarious!

#5.  Here's another shirt with sailboat design, this time in black with little boats with orange sails.
Quite striking methinks!

So Dani wants your advice on which one she should pick.  Her Dada is 66 years old but he still works as a software consultant on contract.  He's not averse to wearing things that make him stand out and he has a very good sense of humour.  Here's a funny picture of him holding Dani when she was a kitten:

Dada's always sticking his tongue out.  He doesn't even realize he's doing it.  Dani thinks it's OK as long as he doesn't try to lick her.

Of course Dani's been known to stick it out, too.  I think she must have learned it from her Daddy.  Like father, like cat!

So please help Dani out and vote for the best shirt for her Dada.  #1 through #5.  Which one is it?
